On Saturday, November 22nd at 11 o'clock, former Labour Senator, William P. Cashin will conduct a historical walking tour of the town of Kanturk. Interested parties are asked to meet at the car park at the Church of the Immaculate Conception before 11 o'clock and the tour will take approximately two hours. It will finish at the Trades Union Hall in Strand Street at around 13.00 where light refreshments will be served. There William P.will give a short talk on the Labour Movement in the Duhallow Area and the significance of the Trades Union Hall in History. The photographic exhibition, "Snaps", will be on display in the hall and the Arts Exhibition will also be open so it offers a great opportunity to visit the exhibitions and enjoy the hospitality. The TUH talk will be followed by folklorist Eddie Linehan in the Function Room of the Park Bar in Church Street at 14.30. There will be a limited number of printed handouts available at €5 for the walking tour and anyone wishing to receive a low resolution digital version of it can do so on request by e-mail to debrunts@iol.ie or info@tbrowne.net. The handout is a 48 page guide book to the town and gives a brief outline of its history etc., Unfortunately the file is too big to be posted on this site so anyone who would like a PDF copy of it can obtain it by e-mail or telephone request to Féile Dúthalla 2008 Admin as mentioned. It is can also be obtained on CD. (Tadhg de Brún Féile Dúthalla 2008 Admin.)
